Terms of Service
Effective date: July 5, 2026 · Applies to taverntrivia.app and the Tavern Trivia mobile apps
These terms are an agreement between you and Tavern Trivia ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using the service you agree to them. If you don't agree, don't use the service.
1. The service
Tavern Trivia generates trivia questions with AI and grades free-response answers, solo and in multiplayer games. Picture and music rounds display images and short audio clips sourced from third-party services (Wikipedia/Wikimedia and Deezer previews); these remain the property of their respective owners and are subject to their terms.
AI-generated content can contain errors. Flag a question you believe is wrong — flagged questions never count against your score. The service is for entertainment; don't rely on it as a factual reference.
2. Accounts & eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum digital-consent age in your country). You're responsible for your account and for the accuracy of information you provide. Guests may join multiplayer games without an account under these same terms.
3. Plans, billing & renewals
- Free: a monthly allowance of questions, resetting on the 1st of each month (UTC). Joining other players' games is always free.
- Basic and Pro: paid subscriptions billed monthly or annually. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period until canceled.
- Web purchases are billed by Stripe; manage or cancel anytime from the in-app billing portal — access continues to the end of the paid period.
- In-app purchases on iOS/Android are billed by Apple/Google under their terms; manage or cancel in your App Store / Google Play subscription settings. Refunds for in-app purchases are handled by Apple/Google per their policies.
- Prices may change with reasonable advance notice; changes apply from your next renewal.
4. Fair use
"Unlimited" plans are subject to fair-use limits that prevent automated abuse, not human play. You may not scrape, bulk-export, or resell generated content, probe or disrupt the service, share accounts to circumvent plan limits, or use the service to develop a competing question bank.
5. Your content & conduct
You keep ownership of what you type (themes, answers, display names). You grant us the license needed to operate the service (e.g., showing your display name and answers to other players in a game). Keep display names and table talk civil; we may remove content or suspend accounts for abuse, harassment, or unlawful activity.
6. Our content
The Tavern Trivia software, design, and brand are ours. Generated questions are provided for your personal, non-commercial use within the service. Third-party media in picture/music rounds is attributed where shown and remains subject to its own licenses.
7. Termination
You can stop using the service or delete your account at any time (see Your Data). We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, with notice where practicable. Sections that by their nature survive (e.g., disclaimers, liability limits) survive termination.
8. Disclaimers & limitation of liability
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF US$50 OR THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM. WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES. Some jurisdictions don't allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
9. Governing law & disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which the operator is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Before filing a claim, contact us — most issues can be resolved informally.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms; material changes will be announced in the app or by email at least 14 days before taking effect. Continued use after that means the new terms apply.
